  Last month I wrote about seven children's book authors with dyslexia, speaking to my own personal struggles with learning audience's response was huge, and I think I know why. So many children with learning disabilities are incredibly intelligent — yet because they learn differently, they easily succumb to feelings of inferiority.   The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a disability as "a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity." Teaching students how to take notes in a class is an important life skill that teachers can effectively teach and most students can master. When students with special needs can take what they hear in class and write it into concepts that can be organized into a study guide for later guided practice, they are closer to mastering the concept of school and learning.
